Passover Gift Ideas

Are you looking for a gift to provide to someone for Passover? But you aren't sure what type of gift you could give? If that's the case, then read these suggestions and with any luck you'll have a better idea of what you could buy or make for a Passover Gift.

Passover is a Jewish tradition that is famous to remember the Jew's exodus from Egypt. This holiday is celebrated over an eight day period, and there are particular meals called Seders. Since Passover is celebrated on the Jewish calendar, which is a lunar calendar, it does not fall on the same time as the regular American/Gregorian calendar. However, it is typically famous around the month of April. There are various common and traditional gifts that can be given to celebrate Passover, including such things as a Passover cookbook (or a cookbook that includes any other Jewish holidays and traditional meals), heirloom Passover Seder plates, Kiddush cups, flower vases, flower bouquets, wine decanters, wine glasses, classic Jewish books for kids, Jewish toys and games (some Jewish parents prefer to give educational or religious toys and games, but some may choose to give the newest and most popular ones), beeswax candles, Star of David wrapped soaps, as well as other a variety of kitchen items (such as aprons, oven mitts, and fridge magnets with Jewish sayings and themes).

It's important to mention that Passover has very exact rules and guidelines to follow with food and drinks. All foods and drinks must include a rabbinical kosher seal, as well as one that specifically states that it is kosher for Passover. Most breads, corns and wheats are not appropriate or acceptable for Passover. Typically Matzah is the most usually eaten food during this time. If you are still unsure of what foods or drinks would be ok, it would almost certainly be best to just give a non-food or non-drink item as a gift. You could also consider giving a gift certificate as a Passover gift. Some gift certificates that would probably be valued, would be one for a book store (that sells Jewish related books), or for any store that carries kitchen products and items to use around the home.
