Muscle pains and muscle spasms can be a nightmare. It certainly isn’t a heaven sent blessing feeling like your neck is on fire and will fall of any minute. Muscle pains are becoming common now days owing to the fact that our lifestyles have changed considerably. Gone are the days when farmer Brown hit the fields at sun set, work his muscles sore and come home in the twilight to rest. As you may recall, Farmer Brown was the picture of health. You see, excessive muscle usage does not cause muscle pain, unless your muscles are hit with weight at an unnatural angle. Muscle pain is caused by the lack of using muscles or by subjecting muscles to stress at an angle that’s unnatural to the human body’s structure.
Our workdays are now pretty much sitting at the desk, typing with our backs and necks bent, leaning forward, etc, etc. in addition to this we have long work hours and workweeks, so the time for exercise certainly does not present itself to us. Even if our job requires travelling, we are sitting in a car, SUV, bus, airplane, anything but our own two legs.
So how do we get reliefs from this constant muscle aching? Here are some tips to help you. If none of these work, then possibly you should see a medical doctor.
1. Get a massage: The absolutely most excellent way to get relief from muscle pain is to get a massage. You can ask your spouse to give you one or go to a masseuse. Getting a weekly massage is a great way to keep the circulation flowing throughout your body and relaxing your muscles.
2. Heat Generating Ointment: Heat producing ointment like Eucalyptamint, is great for fast active relief from muscle pain. After you’ve applied the ointment, be sure to cover up the area with a warm piece of cloth. Don’t wrap it tightly, just cover it so that the heat stays inside your body and soothes your muscles.
3. Take over-the-counter Medication: take over-the -counter medication such as aspirin with some war water. Rest in a room where you can keep your body, especially the paining muscle, warm.
4. Stretches: if you begin to feel pain in your neck, shoulder or back muscles or your limbs, the best thing to do is immediately get um and stretch for about 10 minutes. Take long deep breaths and don’t punish your muscles, make slow firm stretches.
5. Work on Improving Posture: muscle pain generally is the result of bad posture. Spotlight on improving your position. Make sure that you ankles, knees and hips are aligned while you sit or stand. Keep your back straight against a chair while sitting.
6. Comfortable Shoes: confirm that the pair of shoes you wear are comfortable. Uncomfortable shoes will wreck your feet and cause all the muscles in you body to ache.
7. Sleep Comfortably: make sure you sleep in a comfortable soft bed. Your neck should receive ample support but a pillow propped too high may increase your neck pain. A pillow that is too low, will leave you neck dangling. Try to sleep with your back bone straight. And stretch yourself in body length when you get into bed, before going to sleep.
