Once such matching formalities are done, both fameless starts with the training of the wedding. There are a number of pre wedding ceremonies in a typical maharashtrian wedding.
The ritual of SakharPuda in which the two families swap sugar packets is an interesting ritual. Kelvan ceremony includes paying respects to the family deity and seeking their blessings. The couple receive a warm welcome at the groom’s home by his mother. She washes the feet of them both with milk then the bride is asked to push a pot full of rice with her right foot and step forward into the house.
